Sliced Ice is a cousin of the "All Is Number"
family of geometric sculptures. For "Sliced Ice," the units left over from "All Is Number"
were cut into six
pieces, and the pieces were glued into assemblages (or slices) that resemble a
series of boomerangs whose constituent pieces differ in number by two. It's name
was inspired from the sculpture's resemblance to the hollow structure of ice. There are
actually 12 or more forms of ice, and some like "Ice Ic" and "Ice VII" are not only
hollow, but also cubic, as is Sliced Ice, though its form has been `stretched.'
All the different visible surfaces seem crystaline.
